Wings, Pistons Fall – Tuesday Sports Wrap

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings fell 3-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets yesterday. Detroit got on the board first, with a Bobby Ryan goal in the first period. Columbus responded with three straight tallies, before Ryan found the empty net in the final minute. Thomas Greiss made 26 saves for Detroit.

The Wings played without forwards Robby Fabbri and Adam Erne, who were placed on the NHL COVID-19 protocol list before the game. They could be out for a couple of weeks. Michael Rasmussen and Frans Nielsen filled in.

The Wings host the Blue Jackets again tonight. Coverage begins at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons got off to a quick start, but eventually fell to the Miami Heat 113-107 last night. The game was delayed five hours because of a COVID-19 testing issue with Miami. When it finally began, Detroit built a 19-point lead in the first quarter, but couldn’t maintain the momentum. Jerami Grant led Detroit with 27 points. Wayne Ellington added 24.

The Pistons visit the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow. Coverage begins at 7:05 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL

The Detroit Lions will officially introduce new general manager Brad Holmes at a press conference this afternoon. Detroit will not speak with head coach candidate Dan Campbell at least until tomorrow. Campbell has said he wants to finish his post-season exit interviews with New Orleans Saints players before looking ahead. Those close to the team say the deal with Campbell could be completed by the end of the week.
