In boys hoops last evening…
– The Houghton game at Escanaba was postponed to Saturday.
– L’Anse lost to West Iron County 65-44.

In girls action last night…
– The Calumet at Hancock game was postponed, and will be made up tomorrow.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell game at Ontonagon was canceled. No makeup date has been provided.
– The Baraga game at Chassell was snowed out. No makeup date has been provided.
– The Dollar Bay-Tamarack City contest at Jeffers was weathered out. No makeup date has been provided.
– Ewen-Trout Creek buried Republic-Michigamme 71-33.

The Finlandia University men’s basketball team plays at Lakeland College tonight.

The Detroit Red Wings put 38 shots on goal, but lost 4-1 to the Arizona Coyotes last night. Jimmy Howard took the loss. The Wings host the Los Angeles Kings tomorrow night.

Red Wings defenseman Alexey Marchenko left  the game early in the third period with an upper-body injury. He’ll be evaluated today.

The Detroit Tigers have announced their Minor League coaching assignments for the 2017 season. Mike Rojas returns to the organization after two years as the bullpen coach in Seattle. He’ll begin his second stint as manager of the Toledo Mud Hens, taking over for Lloyd McLendon, who is the Tigers’ new hitting coach. Former Detroit catcher Gerald Laird will also rejoin the organization. He’ll manage the Class A Short-Season Connecticut Tigers.

The Milwaukee Brewers traded catcher Martin Maldonado and minor league pitcher Drew Gagnon to the Los Angeles Angels. In exchange, they got catcher Jett Bandy. He just completed his rookie season, and will compete for the starting job this spring.
