WestPAC Baseball, Softball All-Stars Announced

Iron Mountain dominated the 2001 WestPAC All-Conference baseball team announced this morning. Blake Julian of the Mountaineers was named Player of the Year, Carson McLean earned Pitcher of the Year honors, and Paul Julian was named Coach of the Year.

Local players named to the first team include Kade Farrell, Brandon Norkol and Nick Horning from Houghton, and Carter Kilpela and Dean Loukus from Calumet. Second team honors went to Reed Heathman and Jonah Horning of the Gremlins, and Tom Voelker and Dryden Nelson of the Copper Kings. Dylan Horning of Houghton and Caden Lehto of Calumet earned honorable mention votes.

Negaunee swept the WestPAC softball honors. Katelyn Lammi was named Player of the Year, Josie Thomson Pitcher of the Year, and Randy Carlson Coach of the Year.

Local players placed on the first team include Elli Djerf from Calumet, Quinn Donnelly from Houghton and Sophie Heinonen from Hancock. Second team honorees include Kaisa Salani of the Bulldogs, Mackenzie Ekdahl of the Gremlins, and Jana Loukus and Morgan Erkkila of the Copper Kings. Taylor Vertin from Calumet, Kaydence Kilpela from Hancock and Isabelle Cleary from Houghton collected honorable mention votes.
