WCHA Delays Fall Season

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association has delayed the start of its 2020-2021 campaign indefinitely.

WCHA Men’s League Commissioner Bill Robertson made the announcement this morning, noting that there was a strong desire to begin the season on schedule, but conceding that it just wasn’t possible to juggle the safety of the student-athletes against the challenges of operating under differing COVID-19 guidelines in multiple states.

Michigan Tech Athletic Director Suzanne Sanregret said the university supports the league’s decision, and will continue to work to find a way to resume the season in some fashion.

MTU, Northern Michigan University and Lake Superior State University all play in the WCHA.

No target date for the beginning of play has been set.
