NFL

There’s more trouble for Detroit Lions receiver Jameson Williams. The Detroit Police Department is investigating an incident several weeks ago, in which Williams’ brother was pulled over for speeding. Jameson was a passenger. Officers found two guns in the car – one licensed Williams’ brother, who has a carry permit. The other was licensed to Jameson, who does not have a carry permit. Video obtained by WXYZ television in Detroit shows Jameson explaining that he is a member of the Lions, and protesting that he couldn’t have the incident on his record. He was handcuffed, and placed in a police car, but, after several phone calls were made, he was released and not charged. Higher police officials are now suggesting he should have been arrested and processed, and are wondering why he wasn’t. Jameson has hired an attorney. The Lions acknowledged the incident, but say they’ll let the legal process continue without further comment. Williams is currently suspended, after violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy.
