– Calumet swept Negaunee 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-11).
– Houghton downed Iron Mountain 3-1.

– At a triangular last night at Lake Linden, the Lakes earned a 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-8) conference win over Watersmeet, and a 2-0 (25-13, 25-7) non-conference victory over Dollar Bay-Tamarack City.
– Ontonagon v Ewen-Trout Creek – no report.
– Chassell v Bessemer – no report.
In volleyball tonight, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City plays at Chassell.
Finlandia
The Finlandia University volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-16) to Northland College last night.
The Lions men’s soccer team fell 2-1 at Lawrence University last night. Zach Wickman scored for Finlandia. The men’s soccer team will play at Ripon College this afternoon.
Wickman has been named the American Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for men’s soccer. Kirsten L’Esperance was named the ACAA Player of the Week for women’s soccer, after scoring three goals and earning five assists in the Lions’ recent win over Mount Mary.
GLIAC
The Michigan Tech volleyball team is back in the national rankings, coming in at number-24 in this week’s AVCA Poll.
NHL
Dylan Larkin scored 30 seconds into the game, but that was all the Detroit Red Wings got last night in a 5-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. Jonathan Bernier made 27 saves in the loss.
The Wings skate at Calgary tomorrow night. Because of NFL football, pregame coverage will begin at 8:40 on KBear 102.3.
Detroit has sent Evgeny Svechnikov down to the Grand Rapids Griffins, and has activated Frans Nielsen and Trevor Daley from injured reserve.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons suffered a 106-86 preseason loss to the Philadelphia 76ers last night. With Andre Drummond, Blake Griffin and Markieff Morris on the bench, Christian Wood led Detroit with 19 points, and Thon Maker grabbed 10 rebounds.

MLB
The Washington Nationals claimed their first pennant yesterday, defeating the Saint Louis Cardinals 7-4 to sweep the National League Championship Series four games to none.
The Astros defeated the Yankees 4-1, and lead the American League Championship Series two games to one. Game four will be played tonight in New York.
