Michigan Tech has a new head women’s soccer coach.

Turk Ozturk spent the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Tennessee and Northwestern University. He led recruiting efforts at Northwestern, and Tech Athletic Director Suzanne Sanregret noted his extensive recruiting network as one of the reasons he was hired.

Before that, Ozturk spent 15 years coaching semi-professional, club and high school soccer in the Twin Cities in Minnesota.

MLB

Longtime Brewers third base coach Ed Sedar has a new role. Yesterday, president of baseball operations David Stearns said Seder will leave the field, and become an advisor to the major-league coaching staff. Quintin Berry, who has been Milwaukee’s minor league roving outfield and base-running coach, will join the major league staff. The team also decided not to renew the contract of Marcus Hanel, who had been their bullpen catcher for 21 seasons.

NBA

This year’s NBA season could begin before Christmas. The league is proposing that a 72-game schedule begin December 22nd. Players union team representatives are expected to vote on the plan today. If they okay it, team owners will vote by the end of the week. If approved, training camps would open December 1st.

NFL

In tonight’s NFL game, the Packers visit the 49ers. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.

The Packers could be without their top three running backs. A.J. Dillon and Jamaal Williams are on the COVID-19/Reserve list. Aaron Jones has missed the last two games because of a calf injury, and coach Matt LaFluer says he’ll be a game time decision.

The Lions have placed quarterback Matthew Stafford on the Reserve/COVID list. Stafford’s wife says he has not tested positive, but was around someone who did. He must sit out for five days. If he does not test positive, he could return to play in Sunday’s game against the Vikings.
