Volleyball Tourney Continues Tonight – Wednesday Sports Wrap

High School

In high school volleyball tournament district semifinals tonight…
• In Division Three, Calumet will host Ishpeming tonight at 6:00. Coverage will begin at 5:40 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3. Hancock will entertain Gwinn in the other semifinal at 6:00.
• In Division Four, District 98, Baraga will play at Dollar Bay-Tamarack City tonight. L’Anse will host Jeffers. Both of those matches start at 6:00.
  • In Division Four, District 97, Wakefield-Marenisco plays Watersmeet this evening. Ironwood will face Ontonagon. Both of those matches will be played at Bessemer.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings lost to the Montreal Canadiens 3-0 last night. Alex Nedeljkovic made 38 saves.

The Wings visit the Boston Bruins tomorrow. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, coverage will begin at 6:45 on KBear 102.3.

Detroit defenseman Moritz Seider has been named the NHL Rookie of the Month for October, edging out teammate Lucas Raymond.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons’ struggles continued last night in a 117-89 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. Jerami Grant led Detroit with 21 points.

The Pistons welcome the Philadelphia 76ers tomorrow night.

MLB

The Atlanta Braves won the World Series last night, blanking the Houston Astros 7-0. Atlanta claims the Fall Classic 4-2. Jorge Soler was named the Most Valuable Player, after hitting three home runs in the series, including one last night that left the stadium, and was estimated at nearly 450 feet.
