MLB

The Tigers lost to the Yankees 4-3 last night. Starter Matt Manning left the game in the first inning after he was struck on the foot by a line drive. Manning fielded the ball and made the out to close the inning, but limped off the field. X-rays confirmed the foot is broken, and his season is over. Beau Brieske relieved Manning, gave up three runs over two innings, and took the loss.

The Tigers play in New York again tonight. Eduardo Rodriguez will start against Carlos Rodon.

The Brewers fell to the Pirates 5-4 yesterday. Willy Adames hit a three-run homer in the first inning, but Pittsburgh chased Freddy Peralta in the sixth inning as they tied the game, and scored two more off Elvis Peguero in the seventh.

The Brewers have today off, and visit the Yankees tomorrow night.

Milwaukee has called pitcher Thyago Vieira up from Nashville. Clayton Andrews was sent down to make room.

The Cubs won, and the Reds lost, so Milwaukee’s lead in the National League Central Division drops to a game-and-a-half over Chicago. Cincinnati remains five-and-a-half back.

NFL
