José Abreu’s two-out double off Alex Lange tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, but Lange got Chas McCormick to fly out to right field to force extra innings. Matt Vierling’s two-run homer in the top of the 11th gave Detroit a two-run lead. Houston got one back off Garrett Hill in the bottom of the 11th, but Hill was able to close the door and get the save. Vierling had four hits, and also made a diving catch that saved three runs from scoring in the fifth inning. Riley Greene also homered.
