Justin Verlander struggled, and the Detroit Tigers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-4 yesterday. Verlander gave up seven runs before leaving with one out in the fifth inning. Nick Castellanos and J.D. Martinez each hit their first home runs of the season. The Tigers continue that interleague set at home against the Pirates this afternoon. Detroit catcher James McCann left yesterday’s game in the fifth inning with a sprained ankle. He may be headed to the disabled list.
The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 10-1 yesterday afternoon. The Cards scored nine runs in the first three innings. Eight were charged to starter Taylor Jungmann. Those teams will take today off, and then continue that set at St. Louis tomorrow night. Chase Anderson will pitch against Mike Leake.

The Detroit Pistons host the Miami Heat in the next-to-last game of their regular season tonight. The Pistons remain tied with the Pacers for the seventh and eighth playoff positions in the Eastern Conference.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings will open the NHL playoffs tomorrow night at Tampa Bay against the Lightning. Follow the Wings through the playoffs on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
Finlandia
The Finlandia University baseball team split a doubleheader at Maranatha Bible University yesterday. The Lions won the first game 3-1. Aaron Froelich pitched a two-hitter. The Sabercats took the nightcap 11-0. The Lions play two more at Maranatha today.
