Verlander

MLB
The Cleveland Indians pummeled Justin Verlander, and outslugged the Detroit Tigers 11-8 yesterday. Verlander didn’t make it through the fourth inning. He was charged with seven runs, and didn’t strike out a batter for the first time in a decade. With the game well out of hand, Detroit scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth to make it close. James McCann and Nicholas Castellanos homered.

Fulmer

The Tigers have today off, and host the San Francisco Giants tomorrow. Michael Fulmer will start against Matt Cain. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Fulmer said he was “in shock” yesterday, after learning he had been named to the American League All-Star team. He’s the only Tiger on the starting squad.

Guerra

The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Miami Marlins 10-3 yesterday. Marcell Ozuna hit two long home runs for Miami. One came off starter Junior Guerra, who gave up four runs over four innings, and took the loss. Eric Thames and Orlando Arcia homered for Milwaukee.

Knebel

The Brewers host the Baltimore Orioles this afternoon. Brent Suter will start in place of the injured Chase Anderson for Milwaukee. Wade Miley will pitch for Baltimore.

Milwaukee closer and former Tiger Corey Knebel will represent the Brewers on the National League All-Star team. It was a heady day for Knebel yesterday, as he and his wife also learned that their upcoming first child will be a girl.

MTU
Spots are still open for the Michigan Tech hockey camp for birth years 2008-10. Dates of the openings are from July 17th through 21st, and July 24th through 28th. Camps are open to boys and girls who have at least one year of organized hockey experience. To learn more, click here.

A donation gets you in the door, and there will be other fundraising activities throughout the game. Money raised will help purchase new team uniforms.
