In high school volleyball last night…
– Calumet defeated Lake Linden-Hubbell 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-15, 25-15).
– Houghton blanked Hancock 3-0.
– Chassell swept Ontonagon 3-0.
– L’Anse got past Baraga 3-1.

In high school football tonight…
– Calumet entertains West Iron County. The Homecoming parade begins at 6:00 on Mine Street, and will follow Red Jacket Road and Fifth Street to Agassiz Field.
– Hancock plays at Hurley. Hear the broadcast on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
– Houghton travels to Northland Pines.
– L’Anse plays at Ironwood in a battle of winless teams.
– Ontonagon hosts Stephenson.

Tomorrow…
– Lake Linden-Hubbell hosts Bark River-Harris for homecoming tomorrow. The unbeaten Lakes would clinch a playoff berth with a win. Kickoff is at 2:00. Hear the broadcast on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com
– Ewen-Trout Creek entertains Pickford.

The Hancock cross country team will hold a car wash at Dave’s BP tomorrow between 10:00 and 2:00. Money raised will help pay for their trip to the U-P Finals next month. All donations will be appreciated.

This will be a busy weekend of Homecoming athletic events at Michigan Tech.

MTU Let's Kick CancerThe Tech volleyball team entertains Findlay tonight at 5:00 at the SDC, and then hosts Wayne State tomorrow at 4:00.

The Huskies’ soccer team hosts Findlay tonight at 7:00 at Sherman Field, and Ohio Dominican Sunday at noon. Sunday’s game is the “Let’s Kick Cancer” game. The Huskies are partnering with the Women Living with Cancer Support Group. Each player will wear a warm up t-shirt that is available for bid online. Bids can be placed now at the team’s Facebook page.

The MTU football team hosts Saginaw Valley State in the annual Homecoming game tomorrow at 1:00 at Sherman Field.

The Huskies’ women’s tennis team hosts Northwood tomorrow morning at 10:00, and Saginaw Valley State Sunday morning at 10:00.

The Tech hockey team begins its season on the road, with games at Minnesota-Duluth tomorrow night and Sunday night. The Huskies are ranked 17th in the nation, and are predicted to finish second in the WCHA.

The Northern Michigan University football team hosts Walsh tomorrow afternoon.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University women’s soccer team lost 9-0 at Ripon College yesterday afternoon.

Finlandia Lions New LogoThe men’s soccer team plays at Fair Haven Baptist College this afternoon (4:00) and at Knox College Sunday afternoon.

The Finlandia volleyball team holds its second invitational of the season this weekend. The Lions will face Great Lakes Christian College this afternoon at 2:00 at the Paavo Nurmi Center, and then play Mount Mary University this evening at 6:00. Finlandia will play Kalamazoo College tomorrow afternoon at 2:00, and Silver Lake College tomorrow at 6:00.

The Finlandia football team has the weekend off.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers’ game against the Cleveland Indians yesterday was rained out. If the game is needed, it will be made up on Monday.

The Tigers open their final series of the regular season tonight at Atlanta against the Braves. Daniel Norris will start against Matt Wisler. Hear the first pitch at 7:35 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Baltimore defeated Toronto last night, leaving the Orioles and Blue Jays tied for the two American League wild card playoff positions. The Tigers are a game-and-a-half back.

The Milwaukee Brewers had yesterday off, and open their final series of the season tonight at Colorado. Brent Suter will pitch against Chad Bettis.

In last night’s NFL game, the Cincinnati Bengals shut down the Miami Dolphins 22-7.

On Sunday, the Detroit Lions visit the Chicago Bears for a 1:00 game. The Green Bay Packers have the weekend off.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings host the Boston Bruins in preseason play tonight. Listen for regular-season Red Wings’ games on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
