Michigan Tech soccer goalie Kirsen Hudak has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Hudak stopped eight shots during the Huskies’ win over Saginaw Valley State on Friday, and added another save as Tech blanked Northwood on Sunday.

The Chicago Cubs scored four runs in the ninth inning last night, and defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-5 to advance to the National League Championship Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers extended their Divisional series by edging the Washington Nationals 6-5. That set is tied at two wins per team, and will be decided tomorrow in Washington.

As expected, former Detroit Red Wings forward Teemu Pulkkinen was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Wild yesterday. The Wings finalized their roster yesterday by awarding the final spot to Andreas Athanasiou. Anthony Mantha will start the season in Grand Rapids. Detroit will open its NHL season tomorrow night in Tampa Bay. Hear the broadcast on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
