With play suspended for more than a month, the National Hockey League is still hoping to complete both the regular season and the full playoffs. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly told NHL.com that the league is prepared to compete well into the summer. Daly says teams have been asked to provide arena availability dates through August. The league is also reviewing non-NHL rinks that could be used for neutral-site games with no fans attending. Players had originally been ordered to self-quarantine through this Wednesday, but Daly thinks it’s unlikely that team facilities will reopen before May 1st.

The National Basketball Association also continues to consider its options. On “Fox News Sunday,” Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said he anticipates the season will resume in arenas with no fans allowed. League officials are considering a 25-day quarantine and training camp period before games could begin.

The National Football League draft remains on track to begin a week from Thursday. Officials from several teams have suggested that it be expanded from seven rounds to 10, because of the challenges they’re facing without the usual means to evaluate talent. Commissioner Roger Goodell has confirmed that he will announce the picks from his basement, as the draft is held via remote hookups.
