NFL

Talks between National Football League teams and the players union about adjustments to the upcoming season don’t seem to be going well. The owners have proposed holding 35 percent of player salaries in escrow, as a hedge against reduced revenues. Reaction from the players has been universally negative. Training camp is scheduled to begin in three weeks.

NHL

We’re learning more about the tentative deal that would facilitate the re-start of the National Hockey league season. The two “hub” cities in which the expanded Stanley Cup playoff will take place will be Edmonton and Toronto. Games will begin August 1st. The deal would also extend the current contract between the league and the players by an additional four years. The agreement still needs to be approved by both sides.

Both sides have agreed to the COVID-19 protocols that will be enforced. Three dozen NHL players have recently tested positive for the coronavirus.
