MLB

The Tigers held off the Twins 6-4 yesterday. Detroit took command with a five-run fifth inning, powered by home runs from Spencer Torkelson and Kerry Carpenter. On a bullpen day, opener Will Vest gave up one run. Alex Lange surrendered three in the eighth, but Jason Foley rescued him by retiring three straight Minnesota batters with the bases loaded.

After taking three of four from Minnesota, the Tigers host the Royals tonight. Reese Olson will pitch against Jordan Lyles. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit added some bullpen depth over the weekend by picking up right-handed reliever Blair Calvo from the Colorado Rockies, in exchange for cash considerations. The Tigers also claimed left-handed reliever Anthony Misiewicz off waivers Sunday from the Diamondbacks. Both have been assigned to Toledo.

The Brewers completed a series sweep of the Pirates with a 5-2 victory yesterday. The Crew put up four runs in the eighth inning to earn the win. Christian Yelich and William Contreras each had two hits.

The Brewers entertain the Diamondbacks tonight. Corbin Burnes will pitch against Merrill Kelly.
