The Detroit Tigers won their fifth game in a row last night, earning a dramatic 3-2 10-inning victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Detroit had only two baserunners through eight innings off Jays’ starter Aaron Sanchez, and trailed 2-0 heading into the ninth. Jose Iglesias singled, and was doubled home by Ian Kinsler. Kinsler scored to tie the game on a double by Miguel Cabrera. The Tigers then loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th inning, and Kinsler’s single plated the winning run. Detroit starter Matt Boyd pitched into the sixth inning, and gave up just one run. Justin Wilson got the win in relief.

The Tigers conclude that home series against the Toronto Blue Jays this afternoon. Jordan Zimmermann will face R.A. Dickey. Hear the first pitch at 1:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Tigers have sent reliever Jose Valdez to the Los Angeles Angels in a cash deal. Valdez spent some time with Detroit late last season and early this season, but had recently been demoted from Toledo to Erie. He was designated for assignment yesterday when Bobby Parnell was added to the 40-man roster.

The Milwaukee Brewers built a 5-0 lead, then hung on to edge the Oakland Athletics 5-4 last night. The early advantage was powered by two Chris Carter home runs in the second and sixth innings. Oakland came back with two runs in the seventh. They scored two more in the ninth, and had runners at the corners with one out against Jeremy Jeffress, but Jeffress was able to get a strikeout and a fly out to end the game.

The Brewers wrap up that quick home set against the Athletics tonight. Chase Anderson will pitch against Jesse Hahn.
