Jose Abreu’s grand slam in the fourth inning off Anibal Sanchez powered the Chicago White Sox to a 12-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers Saturday. Sanchez gave up four runs in the third inning, and was charged with five more before leaving with one out in the fourth. Blaine Hardy replaced Sanchez, and surrendered the Sox’ four remaining runs. J.D. Martinez hit his fifth home run of the season for Detroit.
The Tigers host the White Sox again this afternoon. Shane Greene will start against Jose Quintana. Hear the first pitch at 1:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-2 on Saturday. Kyle Lohse gave up three runs in the first inning, and three in the fifth.
The Brewers wrap up that set at Pittsburgh this afternoon. Matt Garza will start against Gerrit Cole.
NHL – Red Wings Fall to Lightning in Game Two
The Detroit Red Wings lost to the Lightning at Tampa Bay 5-1 in the second game of their opening-round NHL playoff series Saturday afternoon. Petr Mrazek gave up a goal in the first period, and was pulled in favor of Jimmy Howard after surrendering three in the second period. The best-of-seven series is tied at a win per team. Game three will be played Tuesday evening in Detroit. Face-off is at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
