Tigers Swept by Jays – Monday Sports Wrap

MLB – Tigers Swept
The Toronto Blue Jays blasted four home runs, and pounded the Detroit Tigers 9-2 yesterday. All four homers came off Detroit starter Alfredo Simon, who was charged with six runs through five innings. In their three losses to the Jays, the struggling Tigers were outscored 29-6. Detroit has lost nine of its last 10 games. Full details are here.

The Tigers have today off, and open the final month of the season tomorrow night at Kansas City. Justin Verlander will start against Johnny Cueto. Hear the first pitch at 8:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Wily Peralta gave up one run over seven innings, as the Milwaukee Brewers got past the Cincinnati Reds 4-1 yesterday. Ryan Braun homered for Milwaukee. Full details are here.

The Brewers also have today off. They’ll host the Pirates tomorrow night. Jimmy Nelson will pitch against Gerrit Cole.

NFL  – Cobb Injury Minor
The shoulder injury that forced Green Bay receiver Randall Cobb out of the Packers’ 39-26 loss to the Eagles Saturday night has been diagnosed as an AC joint sprain. It’s considered fairly minor, although there’s no word as to whether he’ll be available for the Packers’ season-opener.
