MLB
The Detroit Tigers broke their five-game losing streak last night with a 4-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. With temperatures in the mid-30s, Francisco Liriano gave up two runs over five innings, and struck out seven. Victor Martinez had three hits, including a two-run homer.

Because of predicted bad weather in Detroit tonight, this evening’s Tigers-Orioles contest has been moved up to this afternoon. Matthew Boyd will start against Kevin Gausman. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Tigers’ first baseman Miguel Cabrera left last night’s game in the ninth inning with tightness in his lower back. Manager Ron Gardenhire described the move as “precautionary,” and Cabrera is expected to be in the lineup this afternoon.

Detroit pitching coach Chris Bosio is back with the team, after spending time recuperating from a health issue.

The Milwaukee Brewers shut out the Cincinnati Reds 2-0 last night. Junior Guerra gave up just one hit while pitching into the sixth inning. Dan Jennings earned the win in relief, when Marcus Thames homered in the bottom of the sixth. Josh Hader pitched the eighth and ninth, and got the save.

The Brewers conclude that set against the Reds this afternoon. Zach Davies will pitch against Tyler Mahle. Outfielder Christian Yelich is expected to return to the Milwaukee lineup, after missing time with an oblique injury. Reliever Jorge Lopez has been sent back to Colorado Springs to make room on the roster.
