The San Diego Padres scored five runs in the eighth inning last night, and came from behind to defeat the Detroit Tigers 7-3. The outburst against relievers Shane Greene and Alex Wilson spoiled a good start by Anibal Sanchez, who allowed two runs on two hits over six innings.

Garza

The Tigers have lost eight straight, and 14 of their last 18 games. They’ll conclude that interleague series at San Diego this afternoon. Jordan Zimmermann will start against Clayton Richard. Pregame coverage will begin at 4:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Atlanta Braves 3-1 yesterday afternoon. Matt Garza took the loss, giving up three runs over seven innings.

The Brewers wrap up that set at Atlanta this afternoon. Zach Davies will pitch against Julio Teheran.

NHL
After using their first-round pick in the NHL amateur draft Friday night to select 6’6″ center Michael Rasmussen, the Detroit Red Wings turned to defense in the second round on Saturday, choosing Swede Gustav Lindstrom. Thanks to a number of trades, the Wings owned four third-round picks, which they used on Finnish defenseman Kasper Kotkansalo, wing Lane Zablocki, center Zach Gallant and goalie Keith Petruzzelli of the USHL Muskegon Lumberjacks. In the fourth round, they selected Danish defenseman Malte Setkov. In the sixth, they added defenseman Cole Fraser and wing Jack Adams. They took defenseman Reilly Webb in the sixth round, and claimed center Brady Gilmour from the OHL Saginaw Spirit with the 193rd overall pick in the seventh round.
