MLB – Tigers Conk Cards
The Detroit Tigers’ bats remained hot last night, as they beat the Saint Louis Cardinals 10-4. Most of the scoring came late in the game. Detroit let 2-0 before scoring three runs in the top of the seventh on Miguel Cabrera’s 399th career homer, and a shot by J.D. Martinez. Saint Louis responded with two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a Jhonny Peralta homer. The Tigers added one in the top of the eighth. The Cardinals put up two in the bottom of the eighth. Detroit then put the game away with three in the top of the ninth. Shane Greene pitched five scoreless innings for the Tigers, but left the game with what the team says was mild ulnar neuritis – an inflammation in the ulnar nerve in his pitching elbow that caused numbness in his fingers. He’ll be evaluated today.
The Tigers continue that interleague series against the Cardinals in Saint Louis this afternoon. David Price will start against Tyler Lyons. Hear the first pitch at 2:15 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
The Milwaukee Brewers shut out the New York Mets 7-0 last night. Ryan Braun hit two home runs, and Gerardo Parra added one. Kyle Lohse gave up just two hits over eight innings to earn the win.
The Brewers continue that set in New York tonight. Matt Garza will pitch against Jacob deGrom.
