The Detroit Tigers suffered another lopsided loss to the New York Yankees, falling 10-2 last night. Jordan Zimmermann gave up seven runs over five innings, and took the loss. Chad Bell mopped up. Ian Kinsler and Jose Iglesias homered for Detroit. The Tigers have lost 14 of their last 17 games, and are 17 games under .500 – their worst mark since 2005.

After the game, Bell was sent down to Toledo. Detroit purchased the contract of reliever Zac Reininger from the Mud Hens. Reininger began the season at Single-A Lakeland, and has worked his way to the top of the ladder.

The Tigers entertain the Yankees again this afternoon. Michael Fulmer will start against Jaime Garcia. Pregame coverage will start at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the San Francisco Giants 4-2 yesterday afternoon. Matt Garza allowed a run over five innings. Jacob Barnes gave up two runs in the seventh, and took the loss. Stephen Vogt homered for the Crew.

The Brewers have today off, and begin a series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles tomorrow night. Chase Anderson will pitch against Kenta Maeda.

The Cubs and Cardinals both won yesterday, so Milwaukee now trails Chicago by three-and-a-half games in the National League Central Division. Saint Louis is four-and-a-half games out.

Milwaukee claimed right-handed starting pitcher Aaron Brooks off waivers from the Cubs yesterday. He’ll be assigned to Colorado Springs. The Brewers designated starter Paolo Espino for assignment.

Our high school football coverage begins tomorrow night, when Calumet opens its season at Northland Pines. Pregame coverage will start around 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
