College Soccer

The Michigan Tech soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to top-ranked Grand Valley State yesterday. Julia Pietila scored the Huskies’ only goal.

The NMU women’s soccer team shut down Davenport 3-0 yesterday.

MLB

The Tigers late-season surge continued with a 4-3 win over the Orioles yesterday. Kerry Carpenter blasted two home runs, and Spencer Torkelson hit one. With the score tied in fifth inning, Parker Meadows made a leaping catch at the wall in right center to rob Colton Cowser of a two-run homer. 

The Tigers take today off, and host the Rays tomorrow. Tarik Skubal will pitch against Ryan Pepiot. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Twins lost both games of their doubleheader against the Red Sox yesterday, and the Royals lost again, so Detroit moves into a tie with Kansas City for the second of the three American League wild card playoff berths. Minnesota is a game back.

The Brewers outslugged the Diamondbacks 10-9 yesterday. Milwaukee fell behind early, as Arizona pounded out eight runs off Frankie Montas in the first three innings. The Brewers clawed their way back, and capped the comeback with a four-run eighth inning. Willy Adames had three hits, and Rhys Hoskins had two hits and drove in two runs.

The Brewers also have today off, and begin a series in Pittsburgh tomorrow. Tobias Myers will pitch against Bailey Falter.

NFL

The Lions stopped the Cardinals 20-13 yesterday. David Montgomery ran for 105 yards and a touchdown. Jahmyr Gibbs added 83 yards and a score.

The Packers grabbed an early lead, and cruised past the Titans 30-14. Malik Willis threw for 202 yards and one touchdown, and ran for 73 yards and another score. 

Last night, the Chiefs held off the Falcons 22-17.

The Commanders visit the Bengals in tonight’s contest. Coverage begins at 7:30 on 99.3 The Lift.
