MLB – Tigers
Robinson Cano’s single drove home Austin Jackson with the winning run in the 11th inning, as the Seattle Mariners edged the Detroit Tigers 7-6 last night. Detroit had taken an early lead when Nick Castellanos and Marc Krauss homered in the second inning… but Seattle climbed on top in the third, when Austin Jackson hit a grand slam off starter Kyle Ryan, and Franklin Gutierrez followed with a solo shot. Alex Avila’s two-run blast in the fourth tied the score. Cano put the Mariners back on top with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the fifth. Yoenis Cespedes tied it with a solo shot in the eighth. Ian Kroll took the loss in relief.

The Tigers wrap up that series at Seattle this afternoon. Anibal Sanchez will pitch against J.A. Happ. Hear the first pitch at 3:40 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

After the game, the Tigers sent Ryan back to Toledo, and brought back Buck Farmer. They also designated infielder Josh Wilson for assignment. If Wilson clears waivers, he could accept a demotion to Toledo, or become a free agent.

The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Atlanta Braves 4-3 last night. Tyler Cravy pitched into the seventh for the Brewers, and gave up three runs. He took the loss. Ryan Braun homered for Milwaukee.

The Brewers conclude that set against the Braves this afternoon. Mike Fiers will start against Julio Teheran.

Khris Davis returned to the Milwaukee lineup last night, after missing five weeks with a torn meniscus. Right-hander David Goforth was sent down to Colorado Springs to make room. Starting pitcher Wily Peralta threw to hitters before yesterday’s game. He’s been on the disabled list since May 25th with a left oblique strain. If he experiences no after-effects, he could begin a series of rehab starts soon.
