With the NHL free agent signing window opening today at noon, the Detroit Red Wings appear to be ready to re-sign veteran defenseman Mike Green. Reports say the contract is worth 10.75-million dollars over two years. Green missed time this past season because of neck surgery, but should be ready for training camp. There are also reports that Detroit will sign goaltender Jonathan Bernier to back up Jimmy Howard. Bernier played for the Avalanche last season.
