MLB
The Detroit Tigers blanked the New York Yankees 3-0 yesterday. Miguel Cabrera did not collect his 3,000th career hit. Detroit fans booed when Cabrera was walked intentionally in the eighth inning, with runners already on second and third, and the Tigers leading by one. New York manager Aaron Boone said it was a simple baseball decision, to set up a more favorable pitching match-up against Austin Meadows. After the game, Cabrera said he saw the logic, and was not offended. Meadows made the Yankees pay, when his soft liner to center field dropped in for a double, and drove in two runs. Michael Pineda gave up three hits over five shutout innings, and earned the win in his first Detroit start.
The Tigers host the Colorado Rockies tonight. Tariq Skubal will start against Antonio Senzatela. Coverage begins at 6:50 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Milwaukee Brewers had yesterday off, and open a series in Philadelphia tonight. Freddy Peralta will start against Ranger Suárez.
