Tigers Fall to Twins – Saturday Sports Wrap

The Tigers lost to the Twins 4-1 last night. Joey Wentz allowed three runs over five innings, and took the loss. Matt Vierling singled home Andy Ibáñez with Detroit’s only run in the sixth. Bengals batters struck out 16 times.

The Tigers host the Twins again tonight. Reese Olson will pitch against Pablo López. Coverage will begin at 6:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit added some infield depth yesterday by signing switch-hitter Johan Camargo to a minor-league contract. Camargo has spent Major League time with the Phillies and the Braves. He’s been assigned to Toledo. The Tigers then released utility player Brendon Davis, who had struggled with the Mud Hens this season.

The Brewers pounded the Guardians 7-1 last evening. Milwaukee broke the game open with five runs in the sixth inning, three on a homer by Willy Adames. Adames added a solo shot in the ninth. Wade Miley gave up just three hits over six shutout innings.

The Brewers play in Cleveland again this afternoon. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Tanner Bibee.

Matt Bush returned to the the Brewers’ bullpen last night, after two months on the sideline with a rotator cuff injury. Bush takes the open roster spot created when reliever Trevor Megill was sent down to Nashville.

NBA

The Pistons have added recent NCAA tournament favorite Tosan Evbuomwan as an undrafted free agent. Evbuomwan led 15th-seed Princeton to the Sweet 16 this spring, averaging 16 points per game in the tourney. He’s a forward from England who didn’t play organized basketball until he was 14 years old.
