MLB

The Tigers couldn’t hold an early four-run lead, and fell to the Marlins 8-6 yesterday. Detroit’s early outburst included a two-run double by Miguel Cabrera, who was making his final appearance in the city where his major league career began. Tarik Skubal cruised through four innings, but left as Miami tied the game in the fifth inning. Two late Marlins homers helped seal the win.

The Tigers have today off, and visit the Pirates tomorrow. Matt Manning will pitch against Johan Oviedo. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers fell behind early, and lost 8-6 to the Braves yesterday. Colin Rae gave up five runs over five innings. A three-run sixth gave Milwaukee a brief lead, but Atlanta quickly tied the game, and won it on Matt Olson’s second home run of the game, a two-run shot off Joel Payamps in the eighth.

The Brewers visit the Nationals tonight. Corbin Burnes will start against Jake Irvin.

After a tough outing Saturday, the Brewers have placed right-hander Julio Teheran on the injured list with a right hip problem. Pitcher Peter Strzelecki has been brought up from Nashville for now, but Wade Miley is expected to return from the injured list in time to cover Teheran’s next scheduled start.
