MLB – Rays Rout Tigers
Curt Casali hit two home runs off David Price, as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Detroit Tigers 10-2 last night. Price gave up five runs over six innings, and suffered his fourth loss of the season. Neftali Feliz was charged with Tampa’s other five runs in the eighth inning. Yoenis Cespedes homered for Detroit.
The Tigers wrap up that series at Tampa Bay this afternoon. Justin Verlander will start against Chris Archer. Hear the first pitch at 12:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
The Tigers are now a season-worst four games below .500. Detroit is in fourth place in the American League Central, behind the Royals, Twins and White Sox.
Wily Peralta pitched into the seventh inning in his first start in more than two months, as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Francisco Giants 5-2. Peralta gave up just four hits through six shutout innings, before tiring in the seventh.
The Brewers conclude that series at San Francisco this afternoon. Mike Fiers will pitch against Jake Peavy.
Milwaukee played last night’s game without first baseman Adam Lind and outfielder Ryan Braun. Both are dealing with lower back tightness. It was Lind’s second-straight miss. He hopes to be ready tonight. Braun was a late scratch after batting practice. He’ll be evaluated today.
