Tigers Fall to Astros – Thursday Sports Wrap

The Pistons’ losing streak reached 11 games last night, with a 123-108 loss to the Nets. R.J. Hampton came off the bench to lead Detroit with a career-best 27 points.

The Pistons have dropped 25 of their last 27 games, and visit the Pacers tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Tigers fell short of a sweep of the Astros with an 8-2 loss yesterday. Eduardo Rodriguez gave up four runs before leaving in the fifth inning, and took the loss. Riley Greene had two hits, including a triple.

The Tigers will host the Red Sox for their home opener this afternoon. Spencer Turnbull will face Chris Sale. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers completed a sweep of the Mets, with a 7-6 victory yesterday. Garrett Mitchell’s lead-off homer in the bottom of the ninth gave Milwaukee the win. Joey Wiemer also homered. Corbin Burnes was chased in the fifth inning, and was charged with all six New York runs.

The Brewers have today off, and entertain the Cardinals tomorrow night. Brandon Woodruff will start against Jack Flaherty.

Milwaukee left-hander Aaron Ashby will undergo arthroscopic shoulder surgery tomorrow, to repair a labral tear in his throwing shoulder. He’s expected to miss most of the season.

Upcoming Local Sports Broadcasts

The Portage Lake Pioneers and the Calumet Wolverines play for the historic Gibson Cup this weekend. Game One will be tomorrow at the Colosseum. Game two will be Saturday at Dee Stadium, with game three next Wednesday, if needed. All games will start at 7:30, with pregame coverage beginning at 7:10 on KBear 102.3.
