MLB

The Tigers couldn’t complete a weekend sweep at Seattle, falling to the Mariners 2-0 yesterday. Reese Olson pitched into the sixth, gave up both runs, and took the tough loss.

The Tigers visit the Royals tonight. Matt Manning will start against Jordan Lyles. Coverage will begin at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers completed a weekend sweep at Cincinnati, coming from behind to shade the Reds 4-3 yesterday. Christian Yelich homered early. Milwaukee scored twice in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly and a single to take the lead. Adrian Houser pitched into the sixth, and allowed all three Cincy runs. The victory gives the Crew a two-game lead over the Reds in the National League Central Division.

The Brewers have today off, and visit the Phillies tomorrow. Julio Teheran will pitch against Aaron Nola.

Rowdy Tellez’ return to the Milwaukee lineup has been delayed. Tellez was recovering from right forearm inflammation, and was expected to be back in the lineup Tuesday. But, Saturday, he was shagging fly balls with the team in Cincinnati when his finger became wedged in the padding of the centerfield wall. A torn fingernail, a broken fingertip bone and 17 stitches later, he’s back on the injured list – probably for another month. The Brewers have also placed third baseman Brian Anderson on the injured list with a lower back strain. Infielder Jahmai Jones was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to fill in.
