MLB
The Tigers gave up five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, and lost to the Rangers 8-3 last night. Detroit took an early lead in the top of the second on RBI singles by Miguel Cabrera and Tyler Nevin. In his return from the injured list, Matt Manning tossed five shutout innings, but left as Texas scored three times in the sixth. Spencer Torkelson’s solo homer tied the game in the top of the eighth, but the Rangers teed off on Brendan White and Anthony Misiewicz to take control.
The Tigers visit the Rangers again tonight. Joey Wentz will pitch against Dane Dunning. Coverage will begin at 7:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
Detroit pitcher Matthew Boyd’s season is over. He’ll undergo Tommy John ligament reconstruction surgery, after hurting his elbow in Monday’s game. Recovery time is usually a year or more. The Tigers also placed reliever Will Vest on the 15-day injured list, after he left Monday’s game with a leg strain. Manning filled one of the vacancies when he was activated off the injured list before last night’s game. Misiewicz was called up from Toledo to fill the other slot.
The Brewers fell to the Mets 7-2 last evening. Julio Teheran pitched into the sixth, and gave up all seven New York runs. Brian Anderson’s single in the eighth plated both Milwaukee runs.
The Brewers visit the Mets again tonight. Wade Miley will start against Kodai Senga.

NHL
The NHL Amateur Draft opens with the first round tonight. The Blackhawks have the first pick. The Red Wings will pick ninth.
Rounds two through seven will take place tomorrow.
The Wings will play two games in Sweden during the upcoming season. Detroit will face the Senators November 16th, and the Maple Leafs November 17th, in Stockholm, as part of the NHL Global Series.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons have exercised their contract options for Alec Burks and Isaiah Livers for the upcoming season.
