MLB
The Tigers collected just five hits in a 5-3 loss to the Twins last night. Two of the hits were fifth-inning home runs – a solo shot by Justyn-Henry Malloy and a two-run blast by Ryan Kreidler. Tarik Skubal gave up three runs over six innings, and left with the score tied. Minnesota scored the game-winner off Will Vest in the seventh, and added an insurance tally off Beau Brieske in the eighth.
The Tigers play at Minnesota again tonight. Keider Montero will come up from Toledo to start against David Festa. Coverage will begin at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Montero returns because Casey Mize is headed to the injury list. The hamstring cramp that forced him out of Sunday’s game turned out to be a strained muscle. The injury is not believed to be serious. Tonight would not have been Mize’s turn in the rotation, but Jack Flaherty has been scratched because of continuing lower back problems.
Javier Báez began a rehab assignment at Toledo last night. He had one hit in two appearances as the designated hitter. Báez has missed nearly a month because of back issues.
The Brewers scored twice in the top of the ninth to edge the Rockies 4-3 last evening. The winning run scored when Rhys Hoskins was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Christian Yelich had three hits. Dallas Keuchel pitched into the sixth, and gave up two runs.
The Brewers visit the Rockies again tonight. Colin Rea will pitch against Dakota Hudson.

The Pistons have lost another free agent. James Wiseman has signed a two-year contract with the Pacers.
