MLB

The Tigers couldn’t hold an early lead, and fell to the Twins 6-3 in 10 innings yesterday. Michael Lorenzen surrendered a two-run homer to Donovan Solano in the top of the second. Detroit responded with three runs in the bottom of the second, on a Zach McInstry double and a Kerry Carpenter single. The slim lead held up until the eighth, when Nick Maton’s throwing error allowed Royce Lewis to score the tying run. Minnesota then plated three runs off Brendan White in the top of the 10th to seal the win.

The Tigers visit the Rangers tonight. Matthew Boyd will pitch against Andrew Heaney. Coverage will begin at 7:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

After the game, Maton was demoted to Triple A Toledo, for what team officials described as a “mental reset.” He has struggled since being obtained in a trade with the Phillies during the off season.

Owen Miller doubled home Joey Weimer in the top of the 10th inning, as the Brewers edged the Guardians 5-4 yesterday. Milwaukee had built a 4-1 lead after four innings. Corbin Burnes gave up one run over five innings, but left as Cleveland scored three times in the sixth.

The Brewers visit the Mets tonight. Colin Rea will start against Justin Verlander.
