Tigers Fall in 10th – Monday Sports Wrap

MLB

J.P. Crawford’s bloop double in the bottom of the 10th inning drove home the winning run, as the Seattle Mariners edged the Detroit Tigers 3-2 yesterday. The loss spoiled a good start by Matthew Boyd, who pitched into the seventh inning, allowed one run, and struck out 10. Detroit had built an early lead, with a Niko Goodrum home run in the fourth, and a Harold Castro RBI single in the fifth. Seattle tied the game with home run off Joe Jiménez in the eighth. José Cisnero took the loss.

The Tigers begin a series against the Angels in Los Angeles tonight. Jordan Zimmermann will pitch against Jaime Barria. Pregame coverage will start at 9:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

Nicholas Castellanos missed yesterday’s game because of tightness in an abdominal muscle. He’s considered day-to-day.

Zach Davies struggled again, as the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Chicago Cubs 11-4 yesterday. Davies gave up seven runs over five innings – all of them on a pair of home runs by Kyle Schwarber. Jeremy Jeffress gave up three more runs in the sixth inning.

The Brewers have today off, and begin an interleague set in Oakland tomorrow night.
