David Peralta’s homer off Justin Wilson in the top of the ninth inning lifted the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers last night. The D’backs scored early – twice in the first inning off Buck Farmer, and four times in the third, off Farmer and reliever Chad Bell. Detroit tied the game with six runs in the sixth inning. J.D. Martinez homered.
The Tigers entertain the Diamondbacks again tonight. Jordan Zimmermann will start against Taijuan Walker. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
The Milwaukee Brewers lost the first of their two games against the St. Louis Cardinals yesterday afternoon, 6-0. The Crew turned the tables last evening, with an 8-5 victory in the second game of the day. Keon Broxton, Jesús Aguilar and Travis Shaw homered.
The Brewers play at St. Louis again tonight. Matt Garza will return from the disabled list to pitch against Mike Leake.
Milwaukee rookie Brandon Woodruff was supposed to make his major league debut in the first Brewers game yesterday, but was scratched because of a tight hamstring. He was placed on the disabled list, and Brent Suter filled in.

– Mattila Rock and Dock meets Jan Bruin-Slot Builders at 7:15 at the Chassell field.
MTU
Tom Smith has been named the new Nordic ski coach at Michigan Tech. Smith has been the head coach of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation in Ketchum, Idaho, which is a year-round youth development program. Former MTU skier Kristen Monahan will serve as assistant coach. Read more about Smith here.
Keweenaw Tread Fest
This year’s Keweenaw Tread Fest will be held Saturday at the Tech Trails. The Tread Fest features 11 and 22-mile mountain bike races. Early registration will open at 6:00 Friday evening at the Tech Trailhead. “Day of” registration opens at 8:00 Saturday morning. The races begin at 10:00.
