Salvador Perez and Mike Moustakas hit back-to-back home runs off Drew VerHagen in the top of the 12th inning, as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-3 last night. Detroit starter Justin Verlander gave up three runs over seven innings. He struck out nine. The Tigers scored all three of their runs in the sixth, on RBI singles by Miguel Cabrera and Alex Avila.
The Tigers host the Royals again tonight. Michael Fulmer will start against Danny Duffy. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Milwaukee Brewers had yesterday off, and open a series at Washington tonight. Zach Davies will pitch against Edwin Jackson.

Golf Outings
Registration is open for two golf outings coming up August 5th. The Kermit’s Keweenaw Kids Scramble will be held at Sandy Pebbles in Ahmeek. Registration begins at 9:30, with a shotgun start at 10:00. The cost is $75.00 per team of three. For information, call 337-1927 or 369-1880. The Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home Scramble will be played at Wyandotte Hills in Twin Lakes. It’s an 18-hole, four-person event, with a shotgun start at 10:00.
