MLB – Tigers Win Marathon, Brewers Fall
Rajai Davis’ sacrifice fly in the 13th inning lifted the Detroit Tigers to an 8-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays last night. The teams matched run-for-run all night. When the Rays took the lead with four in the top of the sixth, the Tigers responded with four of their own in the bottom of the inning. J.D. Martinez gave Detroit a one-run lead with a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth, but Tampa tied the score with a run off Bruce Rondon in the ninth. Davis also homered for the Tigers. Taylor Jungmann gave up six runs, as the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Miami Marlins 6-4 last night. Jungmann didn’t make it through the fourth inning. Domingo Santana homered for Milwaukee. Details are here.

NFL – Lions Sign QB Stanzi
After losing third-string quarterback Kellen Moore to the Dallas Cowboys, the Detroit Lions signed former Iowa signal caller Ricky Stanzi to their practice squad yesterday. Stanzi has been in the NFL for four seasons, but has never thrown a pass in a game.
Baraga Whitetails Dinner Planned
The Baraga County U.P. Whitetails Association will hold its membership banquet at the American Legion Hall in L’Anse Saturday evening. Doors open at 5:30.
