The Tigers mauled the struggling White Sox again yesterday, taking a 9-4 victory. Colt Keith had three hits and drove in three runs. Andy Ibáñez homered. Bryan Sammons took over from Beau Brieske in the second inning, pitched into the sixth, gave up one run, and got the win. The loss was Chicago’s 100th of the season, with five weeks still to go.

The Tigers conclude that series in Chicago tonight. Ty Madden will start against Davis Martin. Coverage will begin at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Madden will be the latest Tigers prospect brought up from the farm. Detroit’s first-round draft pick in 2021 turned in two effective seasons at Double-A Erie. He struggled much of this season at Triple-A Toledo, but has been pitching better of late.

Alex Faedo has returned from paternity leave, but won’t rejoin the Tigers right away. He’s been placed on the injured list with a right shoulder strain.

The Brewers dropped a 4-3 decision to the Athletics yesterday. Frankie Montas gave up all four Oakland runs in the fourth inning, and took the loss. Gary Sánchez and Willy Adames homered.

The Brewers have today off, and host the Giants tomorrow night. Tobias Myers will start against Logan Webb.

Milwaukee pitcher Nick Mears has landed on the injured list with a right forearm strain. Aaron Ashby has been called up from Nashville, where he’s been trying to restart his career after shoulder surgery 18 months ago.
