In Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball League play this evening…

MLB

The Tigers fell behind early, came back to force extra time, but eventually fell to the Guardians 9-8 in 10 innings last night. Kenta Maeda didn’t make it through the third inning, and was charged with six runs on seven hits. Colt Keith started the comeback with a two-run homer in the bottom of the third. A pair of two-run shots by Gio Urshela and Justyn-Henry Malloy tied the contest in the sixth. Cleveland plated two off Will Vest in the top of the 10th. Detroit scored once in the bottom of the inning, but couldn’t re-tie the contest.

The Tigers host the Guardians again tonight. Reese Olson will start against Tanner Bibee. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers gave up five home runs in a 12-2 loss to the Pirates last evening.

The Brewers entertain the Pirates again tonight. Tobias Myers will pitch against Martín Pérez.

College Hockey

The Northern Michigan University hockey team has added another transfer student. Forward Jesse Tucker comes in from Clarkson, where he netted four goals and added 10 assists last season.

NBA

The Pistons have claimed forward Paul Reed off waivers from the 76ers. Reed averaged 7.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in 19.4 minutes per game as Joel Embiid’s backup in Philadelphia last season.

Biking

This year’s Miner’s Revenge Mountain Bike Festival will take place this weekend in Greenland. The festival features a series of cross country races which cover rugged outdoor trails, and an underground section of the historic Adventure Mine.
