Trailing 2-0 in the eighth, they loaded the bases with two outs. Kerry Carpenter’s walk forced home one run, and Matt Vierling’s two-run double proved to be the game-winner. Starter Matt Manning pitched into the sixth, and gave up both Kansas City runs – both unearned.
