Tigers Come From Behind – Monday Sports Wrap

MLB – Tigers
Alfredo Simon gave up three runs in the first inning, and another in the second,,, but the Detroit Tigers came back to beat the Chicago White Sox 6-4 yesterday. Simon settled in to complete eight innings to earn the win. He retired the final 12 batters he faced. Detroit surged from behind in the sixth inning on homers by Yoenis Cespedes and J.D. Martinez.

The Tigers have today off, and open an interleague series against the Cubs tomorrow night in Detroit. Anibal Sanchez will start against Jon Lester. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Minnesota Twins 2-0. The Brewers had chances against Mike Pelfrey, but grounded into three double plays, and left seven runners on base. The Twins also could have scored more. They went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Milwaukee opens a three-game set at Pittsburgh tonight. Jimmy Nelson will start against A.J. Burnett.

The Brewers will call up pitcher Taylor Jungmann from Colorado Springs to start Tuesday’s game against Pittsburgh. Jungmann was Milwaukee’s first-round pick in the 2011 draft, and has a 6.37 ERA with the Sky Sox.

The Major League Baseball draft begins tonight with rounds one and two. The Diamondbacks will pick first. The Brewers have the 15th, 40th and 55th picks. The Tigers have the 22nd, 34th and 65th selections. The draft will continue tomorrow and Wednesday.
