The Finlandia University men’s soccer team will host Lakeland University this afternoon at 1:00 at McAfee Field.

Victor Reyes hit his first major league home run yesterday, as the Detroit Tigers outslugged the New York Yankees 11-7. Reyes notched his first four-hit game, with a pair of doubles and a single. He drove in three runs. Detroit took control with a five-run fourth inning, capped by a Nicholas Castellanos home run. Matthew Boyd gave up three runs over six innings, and earned the win.

The Tigers begin a series against the White Sox in Chicago today. Michael Fulmer will start against Reynaldo Lopez. Pregame coverage will begin at 1:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Christian Yelich blasted his first career grand slam, as the Milwaukee Brewers outscored the Washington Nationals 9-4 yesterday. The slam was the big blow in a seven-run fifth inning, which also included a three-run shot by Keon Broxton. Starter Junior Guerra struggled again, giving up all four Nats’ runs over three innings. Brandon Woodruff got the win with four scoreless innings in relief.

The Brewers trail the Cubs by five games in the National League Central Division, and begin a crucial home set against Chicago this afternoon. Zach Davies will return from the disabled list to pitch against Cole Hamels. It will be Davies’ first big-league start since May 29th.

After cutting quarterback Jake Rudock last week in favor of backup Matt Cassel, the Detroit Lions have signed Rudock to their practice squad.
