Tigers, Brewers Open Seasons Today – Thursday Sports Wrap

MLB
Both the Detroit Tigers and the Milwaukee Brewers open their baseball seasons today.

The Tigers host the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jordan Zimmermann will start against Ivan Nova. Pregame coverage begins at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift. There is a very good chance of rain in Detroit today. If they can’t play the game, it will be rescheduled to tomorrow afternoon.

The Tigers firmed up their opening-day roster yesterday. As expected, they placed pitchers Mike Fiers and Johnny Barbato on the 10-day disabled list. They officially added utility player Niko Goodrum to the 40-day roster. And, they brought pitcher Jairo Labourt back into their system, signing a minor-league deal with the prospect they released in February.

The Milwaukee Brewers begin the regular season on the road at San Diego this afternoon. Chase Anderson will pitch against Clayton Richard.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings skate at Buffalo tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons will host the Washington Wizards tonight.

The Calumet Wolverines and Portage Lake Pioneers begin their battle for the Gibson Cup tomorrow night at 7:00 at Dee Stadium. Game two will be played Saturday at the Colosseum, with game three the following Friday, if needed. Hear all the broadcasts on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
