Bradley Zimmer’s two-run homer off Erasmo Ramirez in the seventh inning lifted the Cleveland Indians to a 7-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers yesterday. Detroit built an early lead. Derek Hill knocked a three-run homer in the second inning – his first in the majors. The Bengals added two more in the third. But, Wily Peralta struggled again, giving up single runs in the first and second, and three in the fourth.
The Tigers have today off, and begin a series in Baltimore tomorrow night. Casey Mize will start against Keegan Akin. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
After the game, Detroit sent infielder Zack Short back to Toledo. It’s anticipated Niko Goodrum will be brought off the injured list before tomorrow’s game. He’s recovering from a calf injury.
The Milwaukee Brewers also blew an early lead, and fell 5-4 to the San Francisco Giants yesterday. The Crew led 4-2 after six innings, with help from a two-run Omar Narváez home run. The Giants tied it with a two-run Brandon Belt homer off Daniel Norris in the seventh, then scored the winning run off Brad Boxberger in the eighth.
The Brewers open a set against the Cubs in Chicago tonight. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Alec Mills.
