Tigers, Brewers Fall – Tuesday Sports Wrap

MLB

The Cleveland Indians scored three runs after a rain delay in the seventh inning, and went on to defeat the Detroit Tigers 8-6 last night. Starter Daniel Norris pitched into the sixth, and was charged with five runs. Christin Stewart, Jordy Mercer and Jeimer Candelario homered.

The Tigers continue that series in Cleveland tonight. Ryan Carpenter will pitch against Zach Plesac. Pregame coverage will start at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Trevor Rosenthal made his debut for the Tigers last night. The former Cardinals closer has battled control problems since undergoing Tommy John surgery. He was signed after his release from the Washington Nationals. He was wild to start the eighth inning, and gave up a hit, but struck out two.

The Milwaukee Brewers’ struggles continued with a 4-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves last evening. Ryan Braun homered. Adrian Houser gave up four runs over six innings, and took the loss. Milwaukee has lost eight of its last 10 games, and has dropped into third place in the National League Central.

Milwaukee has placed reliever Corbin Burnes on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. Burch Smith has been brought up to fill in.

The Brewers host the Braves again tonight. Brandon Woodruff will start against Bryse Wilson.
