MLB

The Detroit Tigers lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 last night. It wasn’t starting pitcher Daniel Norris’ fault – he gave up just one run over five innings. Philly put the game away with four runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth, off Buck Farmer, Daniel Stumpf, Victor Alcántara and Zac Reininger. Jordy Mercer hit a home run for Detroit.

The Tigers have today off, and begin a home set against the Kansas City Royals tomorrow night. Matthew Boyd will start against Jorge López. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Colorado Rockies 11-4 last night. Scheduled starter Chase Anderson ripped open a callous on his pitching hand before the game, and had to be scratched. Jacob Barnes pitched the first inning, and gave up three runs. While that was happening, Milwaukee called the league office and got permission to put Anderson on the injured list, and activate Corbin Burnes, who had just rejoined the team from San Antonio. Burnes took the loss, giving up three runs in relief. Jay Jackson surrendered the other four runs. Mike Moustakas homered for the Crew.

The Brewers wrap up that series this afternoon. Freddy Peralta will return from the injured list to pitch against Jon Gray.

Yesterday, Milwaukee sent reliever Jake Petricka back to San Antonio. Reliever Alex Wilson has cleared waivers after being designated for assignment, and has also been sent to the Missions.
