High School

Most or all of the high school athletic competitions scheduled for the next several days have been canceled because of the weather.

NBA

In the NBA Tournament yesterday…

In the Western Conference…
• The Warriors dispatched the Kings 120-100. Golden State win that opening-round series 4-3.

In the Eastern Conference…
• The Heat outscored the Knicks 108-101. Miami takes a 1-0 lead in that conference semifinal series.

On today’s schedule…

In the Eastern Conference…
• The Celtics host the 76ers in the opening game of their conference semifinal series.

In the Western Conference…
• The Nuggets welcome the Suns. Denver leads that conference semifinal series 1-0.

NHL

In NHL opening round playoff games yesterday…

In the Eastern Conference…
• The Panthers stunned the Bruins 4-3 in overtime. Florida takes that series 4-3, and the Boston team that set a new record for the best regular season in NHL history falls in the opening round.

In the Western Conference…
• The Kraken dispatched the Avalanche 2-1. Seattle takes that set 4-3.

Today…

In the Eastern Conference…
• The Devils host the Rangers. That series is tied 3-3.

MLB

The Tigers fell behind early, and lost to the Orioles 5-3 yesterday. Baltimore scored single runs off Spencer Turnbull in the second, third and fourth innings, and added another off Tyler Holton in the fifth. Detroit got three back in the bottom of the fifth, with help from a two-run Jake Rogers homer, but could not complete the comeback.

The Tigers have today off, and entertain the Mets tomorrow. Starters have not been announced. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers lost to the Angels 3-0 yesterday. Milwaukee collected just three hits. Colin Rea allowed two runs on three hits over five innings, and took the loss.

The Brewers also have today off, and visit the Rockies tomorrow. Freddy Peralta will start against Ryan Feltner. 

NFL

Former Ewen-Trout Creek and Northern Michigan University standout Jake Witt was selected by the Colts in the seventh round of the NFL draft Saturday. Witt entered the draft as an offensive tackle, after playing just 14 games at that position for the Wildcats. Ahead of the draft, Witt spoke with Kenny Ericson of Kendog Sports, and said the process began shortly after Northern’s season ended last fall…

In his post-draft press conference, Witt said his interaction with the Indianapolis organization began early on…

In the end, the Colts made Witt their final selection in the draft, at number 236.
